Stampin' Up! Best Birds

This week I tried out a new stamp set and technique! This card is made using Stampin’ Up! Best Birds Bundle. To make this card I first stamped the bird and branches on watercolor paper using Basic Gray Archival ink. I found a bird on Google to be my inspiration, check him out below. Used both watercolor pencils and ink pads to color in and soften with the aqua painters. I then used my big shot to cut the peices out.

For the background, I stamped with Old Olive on watercolor paper. Using my aqua painters, I then saturated the paper to blur the lines. Once dry I attached all the parts and added a black pearl to get a nice shiny eye.

Tip: use heat embossing gun to speed up the process. I also did this when coloring. It helped me darken the colors without the color bleeding from excess water.

Other supplies I used were Stampin’ Up! Stitched Framelits, burlap ribbon and dimensionals for the greeting.

Lift Me Up

Stampin' Up! Life Me Up

Today I tried out a new stamp set from the Occasions catalog called Lift Me Up. I’ve really been wanting to make a vintage card with Timeless Textures , so I combined the two since they work so well together.

I started with a very vanilla cardstock base of 4.25″x5.5″ and inked the edges with Sahara Sand and a stamp from Timeless Textures. I them created the other very vanilla background on a 3.75″x5″ piece. I sponged the edges to “age” it and rubbed my fingernail all the way around. I then layered it on a 4″x5″ price of crumb cake cardstock, which I also ran my fingernail around the edges. Added the very vanilla ribbon and attached to the card base.

The hot balloons are stamped in Cajun Craze and Always Artichoke. I used the thinlit from Birthday Banners to cut out my sentiment. All my peices are sponged on the edges with Sahara Sand before attaching. I used dimensionals to lift the balloons.

I hope you enjoyed this card! If you want to make your own, remember Sale-a-bration is happening now and you can earn free product.

Dragonfly Dreams Challenge Week 2

Stampin' Up! Dragonfly Dreams Bee Slider Card

The challenge this week, from an upline, was to use the bee from Stampin’ Up! Dragonfly Dreams Bundle. I decided the bee needed movement and wanted to attempt my first slider card. I also used petite petals stamp and punch to give the bee flowers to investigate.

Sponge the background. I used Soft Sky and Pool Party for the sky and Old Olive and Garden Green for the grass. Remember to ink behind the slider opening.

Add double stacked foam adhesive between the back of the bee and a scrap piece of cardstock (some people use a penny, instead of cardstock). Add a single layer of foam adhesive to the rest of the back. Make sure your bee can move freely in the slider and between all the foam pieces.

Don’t feel bad if you make a mistake, just make it work. I dropped my saying and then had to cover it up with a cutout piece.

Moon Baby

Stampin' Up! Moon Baby

Using a new Stampin’Up! stamp set from the new Occasions catalog called Moon Baby. Great set to congratulate a new parent. Got out my colored pencils from years ago to color this in. Markers or watercoloring are also a beautiful way to go.
